CLEVER CARE®

CLEVER CARE®

The Clevercare® initiative by Ginetex—the international association for textile care labelling is made to remind us to consider the environment when washing, drying, and taking care of our clothes. As supporters of the Clevercare® initiative and campaign, we help promote their five easy ways to adopt a more mindful laundry routine. Reduce your environmental impact, effort and money when caring for fashion the clever way.

WASH LESS

Washing your clothes less and wearing them more can actively help reduce your carbon footprint. Excessive washing and drying tears out your clothes and deteriorate the quality. Instead, remove stains manually, and air the clothes to freshen up after every use.

KEEP IT COOL

Minor temperature changes can make a huge difference without compromising the efficiency of your wash. By machine washing at 30°c instead of 40°c, studies show that you consumpt 40% less energy. The degree on the washing label only indicates the highest temperature allowed, and not the suggested temperature.

AIR-DRY OUTSIDE

Not only will you save energy by air-drying your clothes; the shape of the clothes will also last longer. Before hanging up to dry, we recommend that you centrifuge at the highest rate, removing excess water and thereby shortening the air-drying time. Whenever you can, air-dry outside to keep a good indoor climate.

IRON WHEN NECESSARY

Save both effort and energy by reducing the amount of clothes you iron. Instead of ironing, place your clean laundry on hangers in the bathroom while showering, as the shower steam helps smoothen out most wrinkles.

DRY-CLEAN GREEN

When dry-cleaning is the only solution, try to look for an option avoiding the use of harsh chemicals on your clothes. For this purpose, we advise you to keep the care label on your garment as it provides professionals with relevant information for the gentlest cleaning process.
